Party Like The Money Is Fake, Because It Is!

The Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter invites the community to attend Memories of the Speakeasy silent auction and dinner in honor of the 23,000 Rhode Islanders who are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease as well as their 53,000 caregivers. This annual event will be celebrating its 17th year on Friday, May 31st beginning at 7 p.m. at Roger Williams Park Casino on Elmwood Avenue, Providence.

Committee members Eric Olobri, Mary Halpin, Denise Lefaiver and Carla Priebe are diligently working on this premier benefit. By purchasing a ticket, guests will enjoy a lively evening of dinner, dancing and fun. Guests will receive a dinner provided by Cozy Caterers, a signature drink, and a dessert bar. The evening will include musical entertainment by The Drama Kings as well as a program with master of ceremony Tony Petrarca, Chief Meteorologist at WPRI 12 and Fox Providence. Dress for the 1920’s prohibition era is welcomed. In addition, guests will have an opportunity to enter a raffle for a 7-night, all-inclusive vacation to St. James’s Club in St. Lucia! Tickets are $25 each or five for $100 and can be purchased by calling 401-421-0008.

“The 1920’s is a great era to showcase because it was a time of fun and excitement, but it was also a time of cautioned silence and even silent movies, but we can’t be silent about the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on our society,” said Donna M. McGowan, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter. “The 20’s was a decade of profound change, and we need to be like-minded in how we pursue finding a cure and treatment and in how we support those that are affected.”

Since its inception in 2003, the annual auction has raised close to a half-million dollars to support the association’s programs, services, advocacy efforts and research. The annual action is a powerful evening that brings us together, shapes our memories and empowers our community as we imagine a world without Alzheimer’s.
