Deacon George F. Garedo

Deacon George F. Garedo, 80, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Lucy (Lassiter) Garedo and the late Dorestine (Bell) Garedo.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Juanito and Clara (Clinton Garedo) Mabray.

Mr. Garedo was a Private First Class, Army Veteran. He worked in sales for Bess Eaton for many years before retiring. He was a Deacon for the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Providence for 22 years. He was a member of the Ocean State Athletic Club, a two time Ocean State Marathon Runner, a two time Washington, D.C., US Marine Corp Marathon Runner and a three time Boston Marathon Runner.

He leaves his longtime companion Ethel Bellamy of Providence, one daughter, Cynthia A. Jupiter of Providence, two sons, Bruce D. Jupiter and Sean F. Garedo both of East Providnce, one step son, Lawrence E. Lassiter of North Carolina, five grandchildren, Nicole Dias, Stefanie Dias, Bruce Jupietr, II, Aryonna Garedo and Alexandra Stroble, nine great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, two sisters, Anna Lowman and Claire Montrond, one brother, Juan Garedo and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert J. Garedo, Juanito A’Vant, Barbara Shaw, Dolores Varella, Lola Willis, Juanita Johnson and Pedro Garedo.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 4-8 in the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 475 Cranston Street, Providence. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
