Ellen K. McCarthy

Ellen K. McCarthy, 66, formerly of Thatcher Street, Rumford, died peacefully on July 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Providence, a daughter of Ruth E. (Halton) McCarthy of Cohasset, MA and the late Francis X. McCarthy, she grew up in Rumford and lived in Pawtucket since 1994.

Ms. McCarthy was a member of the Arc of Blackstone Valley. Ellen enthusiastically loved life, her family and friends. She especially enjoyed trips to Briggs Beach, ice cream from Grays in Tiverton on the way home, birthday lunches at Friendly’s, singing and dancing along to Lawrence Welk and the Beach Boys, and outings with her extended family. She will always be remembered for her infectious laugh.

Besides her mother, she is survived by three sisters, Patricia Jacquart of Scituate, MA, Gail McCarthy of Scottsdale, AZ, and Ann Maitland of Nashua, NH, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Church, Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford on Monday July 31, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
