"Explore the Woonasquatucket” Recreation Series:

Fall Foliage Hike at Sprague Farm in Glocester

Posted

Glocester – On Saturday, November 5th, 2022, the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) invites you to explore Sprague Farm, a beautiful trail in northern RI. This Saturday hike is part of the 2022 “Explore the Woonasquatucket'' Recreation Series, which offers year-round guided tours of beautiful and historic sites throughout the Woonasquatucket River watershed, with paddle trips, hikes, and bike rides. This Fall/Winter, explore the watershed by land with a series of hikes.

On Saturday, November 5th at 10am, join the WRWC for a pleasant 2-hour hike at Sprague Farm in Glocester and take in the beautiful Fall colors. Consisting of nearly 1,200 acres of forest, Sprague Farm has several miles of foot paths created by the Glocester Land Trust. Most trails have a gentle slope and visit scenic ledge vistas with uneven terrain. You’ll see stands of Striped Maple, a glacial fen, an Atlantic White Cedar wetland, several fields, miles of stone walls, old stone slab bridges over several streams, the Sprague family cemetery, and stone foundation walls for barns and farmhouses. It’s a real gem!

This series is generously funded by REI CO-OP. Visit WWW.WRWC.ORG/EVENTS  to register for this hike and to see the full “Explore the Woonasquatucket” Recreation Series schedule. Advance sign-up is required.
