Joao Ferreira

Joao Ferreira, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria De Fatima (Araujo) Ferreira to whom he was married for 58 years. Born in Povacao, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel and Maria de Gloria (Machado) Ferreira. Mr. Ferreira was a crane operator for Ocean State Steel. He enjoyed spending time in his backyard and taking in the view of his garden. He loved family gatherings, specifically the clambakes every Father’s Day. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Vidalia Adalio and her husband Stanley of East Providence and Maria Olinda Ferreira of East Providence, two sons, Antonio Ferreira and his wife Wendy of North Providence and Danny Ferreira and his wife Elizabeth of East Providence, one sister, Joana Duarte of New Bedford, one brother, Manuel Ferreira of Rehoboth, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late David Ferreira. His funeral will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 8:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-6.
