Jospeh J. Dourado, 93 passed away Monday September 18, 2017. He was the husband of Frances A. (Dutra) Dourado. Born in East Providence he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Jessie (Almeida) Dourado. He worked for the former Bird & Son in Rumford, also as a steelworker for Rod Mill –Washburn Wire until 1981, and then worked as a maintenance man for the East Providence Housing Authority retiring in 1989. Joseph was a former member and treasurer of Trinity Brotherhood of E.P., member of the E.P. Zoning Board, member of the RI State Auto Dealers Licensing Commission during the Chaffee Administration, Charter member EPCU, member of EP Board of Canvassers appointed in 1986, and a former member of E.P. Republican City Committee. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters Joyce Amaral of Seekonk, Debra Silva of Lakeville, MA, one sister Mary Hayward of East Providence, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Agnes Christopher and Cecelia Dourado. His funeral will be held on Friday at 9 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Margaret Church 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-7 PM.
