Summer Food Program Feeds Kids For Free

East Providence – With summer right around the corner, it’s time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out. East Providence Recreation provides free meals to children during the summer.

This summer, meals will be served at George Lima Memorial Park, Monday – Friday, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, June 28 – August 6 and at Onna Moniz-John Park, Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, June 28 – August 27. Any child under age 18 may come to eat. For more information, contact East Providence Recreation at 401-435-7511.

You can come to the Summer Meals kickoff event to learn more about summer meals and for a day of fun with your family. The “Party in Your Neighborhood” will be on Saturday, June 26, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Pierce Field, 201 Mercer St., East Providence, RI. There is no cost to attend. Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like East Providence Recreation to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer.
