Injured swimmer gets taped up and goes on to help set new meet record!

August 10th, 2014, the sun is beating down on the pool, swimmers, coaches, timers and spectators at the All Pool Meet at Kendbrin Pool and Tennis Club located in Riverside Rhode Island. This year like many others the club saw over 700 hundred swimmers from the local swim teams have come to compete at this event. As the racers get announced and mark their lane for battle, several individual achievements are being played out on the grounds.

Performance Physical Therapy was honored to lend a helping hand by providing a health and wellness booth at the event, offering physical therapy health advice, tips and answering general questions about physical fitness and injury prevention. "It wasn't until Sunday morning when a young (Team Kendbrin) swimmer approached the Performance booth with the look of discomfort that seemed obvious," states Chris Hughes, Marketing Director at Performance PT. Hughes continues, "Isabel approached us asking if we could re-tape her aching shoulder." Dr. Melissa Robidoux of Performance spoke with Isabel (Izzi) Rotondo 16 about her injury for a while and then proceeded to tape her shoulder. Izzi had not participated in the individual races on Saturday due the pain and reoccurring dislocation.

Just 10 minutes later Izzi , Alicia Vesey 15, Allison Bloom 16 and Danielle Gibalerio 15 competed in the girls 15-16, 200 Yard Medley Relay and set a new meet record! The previous meet record was 2:10.97 now the record stands at 2:03.87. "The tape held up to get the team through the race and on to the glory of a new record." Hughes goes on to say, "What a win!"
