Magnet Play
Thursday, October 1 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Experiment and sculpt with magnets to explore the playful power of magnetism in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s open-ended art and science exploration space. Artfully arrange magnetic stones, test objects to see what's magnetic, and steer objects through mazes with a magnet wand.

Toddler Try-It: Magnet Magic
Friday, October 2 • 10:00 AM - Noon
Young children, ages 18 months to 3 years, delve into different hands-on art and science activities each Friday morning. This week, toddlers paint with magnetic marbles.

Cardboard Challenge
Saturday, October 3 & Sunday, October 4 • 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Take part in the Global Cardboard Challenge, a worldwide celebration of child creativity and the role of communities in fostering imaginative play, inspired by the film “Caine’s Arcade” (www.cainesarcade.com). Kids and families collaborate to design and build original creations using cardboard, recycled materials and their imaginations. Invent and construct games, gadgets, robots, rocket ships and much more! Underwritten by Amgen Foundation.

Play and Learn: Bounty of Beads
Tuesday, October 6 • 10:00 AM - Noon
Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program especially for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, children dip into a bounty of big beads to practice patterning and fine motor skills.

Take part in the Global Cardboard Challenge, a worldwide celebration of child creativity and the role of communities in fostering imaginative play, inspired by the film “Caine’s Arcade” (www.cainesarcade.com). This week, preschoolers practice problem solving as they build ramps and towers and experiment with rolling balls. Underwritten by National Grid.

Puzzle Works
Tuesday, October 13 - Thursday, October 15 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Take on creative challenges with a colorful assortment of shape and patterning puzzles in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s hands-on art and science exploration space. Try your hand at geometric, mosaic, wooden and magnetic puzzles that involve shape sequencing and sorting and have multiple solutions.

The Museum is open free of charge from 5:00 - 8:00 PM for “MetLife Family Friday - Free at Five!,” sponsored by MetLife Foundation. Stay out late and splash, play, explore and discover! From 5:30-7:30 PM, take on creative challenges with a colorful assortment of shape and patterning puzzles in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s hands-on art and science exploration space

Imagination Playground
Saturday, October 17 & Sunday, October 18 • 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Kids invent their own ways to play as they stack and build with huge blue foam blocks, wheels, spools, tubes and a variety of loose parts. Construct castles and forts, invent interesting sculptures and more!

Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program especially for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers practice sorting and develop spatial awareness as they find just the right size boxes to fit various bugs.

Dress up, create spooky creatures and have other frightful fun in Discovery Studio, the Museum's hands-on art and science exploration space.

Young children, ages 18 months to 3 years, use real tools and explore the creative process as they delve into different hands-on art and science activities each Friday morning. This week, toddlers use Halloween colors to make their own spooky paintings.

Creepy Critters
Saturday, October 24 • Noon - 2:00 PM
Lizards, snakes and frogs, oh my! Kids come in costume and see and touch some captivating critters – prickly, hairy but not too scary! Have close encounters with furry friends, slithering snakes and other incredible creatures and learn fascinating facts about them from animal expert Dave Marchetti of Animal Experiences.

Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program especially for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers practice spatial skills and learn directional phrases as they steer small cars over bridges and through tunnels.

Play bewitching games galore, have hands-on fun with imaginative arts and “witch crafts,” explore an eerie environment, mix it up in the mad scientist’s laboratory and much more. Come in costume and have a blast during Providence Children's Museum's annual hands-on Halloween bash!


Providence Children’s Museum ¬– Come play, come learn!
The Museum is located at 100 South Street in Providence’s Jewelry District. September through March, open Tuesday through Sunday and Monday school holidays, 9 AM to 6 PM, and selected Fridays until 8 PM. April through August, open 7 days.
