Tri-County Regional Engineering Technology Instructor Kristen Magas has been named the 2015 Teacher of the Year by the Paul Revere Chapter of the Air Force Association.

Paul Zauner, President of the AFA Paul Revere Chapter, visited Tri-County on Thursday, June 18, to present Magas with her award. School Committee Chairman Robert Wilkinson, Principal Jean Mallon, and several of Magas' Engineering Technology students also attended the presentation. Magas was named a runner-up for the State Teacher of the Year Award.

Principal Mallon lauded Magas, who is completing her third year of teaching at Tri-County, for her dedication to the students and to expanding the Engineering Technology Program.

“Kristen Magas has excited students, teachers, and parents about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by promoting STEM activities that expand teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration; by working collaboratively with a STEM team of teachers; and by expanding the Engineering course offerings,” said Mallon.

In addition to classroom instruction, Magas has taken on the role of advisor for several programs, including High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware and Zero Robotics. Both programs allow students to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to solving real world problems.
