What Hung in the Hunt Family Closets? Presented by the East Providence Historical Society and Karen Antonowicz at the Weaver Library
Monday, September 28, 2015 7pm
“Susanna Sweeting Hunt wore an elegant new gown to her son John Jr’s wedding.”
True statement? Well, no, but tonight’s program looks at what Susanna might have worn to the wedding. John Hunt Sr. and his new bride took over the mills on the 10 Mile River in 1713 and the family remained there until 1868. What were the fashions hanging on the clothes pegs all those years? Karen Antonowicz, a teacher of fashion history and owner of Nostalgia on Wickenden Street, will take us on a sartorial journey of life inside East Providence’s Hunt House. The Historical Society’s Count Rumford plans to attend to pick up some tips about his own wardrobe.
