East Providence offering tennis camp Aug. 6-9

EAST PROVIDENCE -- The East Providence Parks & Recreation Department is offering a Kids 10&Under QuickStart Tennis Camp from Aug. 6-9, at the Pierce Field Complex, 201 Mercer St.

The camp will be presented by Coastal Quick Tennis, which uses the USTA (United States Tennis Association) and ITF (International Tennis Federation) teaching methods and curriculum's, including Kids 10&Under QuickStart. Clinics are geared to learning stroke fundamentals, how to rally and the basics of playing tennis. The "QuickStart" method of instructing accelerates skill development and enhances the competitive experience for young children – and it is fun! QuickStart utilizes age-appropriate court sizes, modified equipment and a progression of balls with increasing pressures, starting with foam and including red, orange and green balls before the standard yellow tennis balls.

“The format offers young players a fun, safe and sensible way to start playing the game” says Patrick McEnroe, USTA general manager of player development.

The Kids 10&Under QuickStart Camp will be from Aug. 6-9 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. The camp fee is $97.

Registration can be completed on-line at Coast Quick Tennis' website - www.cqtennis.com. Additional information is also available by contacting the East Providence Parks & Recreation Department at 401-433-6360
