East Providence Resident Olivia Dufresne Stars as ANNIE!

Posted

The Community Players open their 97th season with the Tony Award©-winning musical, ANNIE! Based on the timeless comic strip, "Little Orphan Annie", this delightful musical celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. With a perfect combination of street-smarts and optimism, Annie rises from next-to-nothing in the 1930's New York City. She is determined to find her parents, who left her at the orphanage years ago in the clutches of the evil Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other orphans, Annie manages to foil Hannigan's greedy plans and find a new family with billionaire Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks, his secretary Grace Farrell and her lovable dog, Sandy. With songs like Tomorrow, It's a Hard Knock Life, Maybe and NYC you'll be sure to leave the theatre with a song in your heart.

The production stars East Providence's Olivia Dufresne, daughter of Nicole and Bruce Dufresne. A student at St. Mary's Bay View Academy, she brings the perfect spirit of spunk and determination to the role. East Providence's Ron Procopio provides the musical direction of the show.

A perfect outing for the whole family, ANNIE is directed by Brian Mulvey, with choreography by Leslie Racine Vazquez. Audience members attending opening night November 12th will be entered into a drawing for a chance to go home with a special prize! Fundraising on performance nights will benefit the Children's Shelter of Blackstone Valley. Performances are November 10-12 and 17-19. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm, with an additional 2:00 pm matinee on Saturday, November 18th at Jenks Auditorium, 350 Division Street, Pawtucket (across from McCoy Stadium). Tickets are $23 for adults and $18 for students. Purchase e-tickets online and print at home (and avoid the line!) at www.thecommunityplayers.net, or reserve at (401) 726-6860.
