“We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

Thank you for the hard work that gets put in to make Martin Middle School the best place for OUR KIDS. This hard work comes from teachers, parents, community members, administration, paraprofessionals, secretaries, custodians and most importantly OUR KIDS. We all know there can be tough days and we might face roadblocks along the way, but we must keep persevering and pushing through challenges and trying different things to make it work. No matter what, we must keep doing great things for OUR KIDS. Our MMS and East Providence Community has a special passion for our work with OUR KIDS and TOGETHER we can do so much. This work is never easy, but remember we are never alone. So...keep pushing, keep grinding and keep fighting the good fight!

Building Relationships
We started from Day 1 of this school year focused on building relationships and culture at MMS. As you know, it has made an improvement in factors including student attendance. A lot of OUR TEAM says they feel that sense of culture and connectedness to students this year more than the past with all of the work that was spent getting to know OUR KIDS.

You see the most success in classrooms when adults spend time building relationships. You see it in the classrooms when teachers take the time to build trust with kids. Content is important however nothing is more than the relationships you build with OUR KIDS. A friend shared this post with me as a reminder of the importance of building relationships with OUR KIDS reminding me what MMS is all about. https://www.edutopia.org/blog/trusting-relationships-teachers-students-rebecca-alber

As the new semester begins this week, it is a great time of year to bring OUR KIDS together and make connections with them. Ask what is important to them and continue building TRUST and making a positive difference in OUR KIDS lives each day!
