Home Safety for Seniors

Senior citizens can get answers to their home safety questions and have a bite to eat during a free seminar Nov. 28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Holy Ghost Brotherhood Hall, 846 Broadway, East Providence.

Raymond Melanson, owner of the Swansea-based Next Monitoring Alert Systems, will conduct the seminar, and a buffet dinner will be served complements of Elder Resources of RI, an alliance of professionals dedicated to providing competent, ethical and trusted services to seniors and families.

Melanson will explain the technology and alert devices that are available to keep seniors safe in their homes by detecting falls, no household activity and fires. He will also talk about GPS technology for active older adults while they are away from home, visiting friends or relatives, running errands or vacationing.
