December Programs for Mass Audubon Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary

Family Habitat Day
Sunday, December 2nd
10am- 11am
Audience: Family (suitable for children 1 - 18 years)
Members: Free
Nonmembers: Adult $2.00, Child $2.00
Join us at Oak Knoll as we explore the different habitats found around the sanctuary. We will look for interesting animals, plants, and see what has visited the sanctuary. This program runs multiple days, no two hikes will be the same, so feel free to join us for each one!

Tadpole Trekkers
Tuesday, December 4th
10am – 11am
Audience: Adult/Child (suitable for children 2 - 5 years)
Members: Adult free, Child $5.00
Nonmembers: Adult free, Child $7.00
Do you know a budding nature explorer? Join us at Oak Knoll on the first Tuesday of every month for Tadpole Trekkers! We will read a fun story, do a special themed craft and then explore our nature trails. Each class will be new and different, so be sure to join us every month!

This program is designed for children 2 - 5 years old with an accompanying adult.

Members & Nonmembers: Free
Nature Play Days are fun days at Oak Knoll. These programs encourage participants to explore nature at their leisure through play. We will provide the materials or activity, and then you can let your imaginations soar.

Family Owl Prowl
Saturday, December 15th
6:30pm – 8pm
Audience: All (suitable for children 7 - 18 years)
Members: Adult $10.00, Child $10.00
Nonmembers: Adult $12.00, Child $12.00
Come explore Oak Knoll after dark! Join Oak Knoll staff to learn about the owls of Massachusetts. Start off indoors with an interactive presentation and owl pellet dissection. Then head outside for a night hike to listen for evidence of our feathery friends. Sometimes we hear them, sometimes we don’t, but we always have a blast!

Pokémon Go Hike
Sunday, December 16th
3:30pm – 4:30pm
Audience: All (suitable for children 5 - 18 years)
Members: Adult $5.00, Child $5.00
Nonmembers: Adult $7.00, Child $7.00
Pokemon Go is a game that has taken the world by storm. Join our teacher naturalist as we use this game as a tool to learn about the real-life animals found in our own backyards. We’ll even talk about how these animals inspired the creatures within the game. Access to Pokemon Go is required.

Access to Pokemon Go is required. All children under 16 yrs must be accompanied by an adult.

Holiday Hike
Sunday, December 23rd
10am – 11:30am
Audience: All (suitable for children 2 - 18 years)
Members: Adult $7.00, Child $7.00
Nonmembers: Adult $9.00, Child $9.00
Join us as we celebrate the holidays with a special hike through the different habitats found at the sanctuary. We will visit a pond, forest, field, and vernal pool! After the hike we will make special bird feeders as a gift to nature.

Dinosaur Discovery
Thursday, December 27th
Audience: Family (suitable for children 2 - 12 years)
Members: Adult free, Child $10.00
Nonmembers: Adult free, Child $12.00
Join us as we discover and learn about dinosaurs and paleontology. Did you know that dinosaurs lived in Massachusetts? Join us as we explore this fascinating science and get the chance to explore some real fossils. After, make your own dinosaur craft! Pre-Registration required. Adults are free with a child registration.
