On to Indy!
The Bristol FFA Chapter has been busy competing in various Career and Leadership Development Events throughout the school year. Recently, 35 students ttended the Massachusetts State FFA Convention in Sturbridge, MA. The following is a listing of this year’s placings. Four teams and an individual will be attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this October. Additionally, the Bristol Chapter was selected to represent Massachusetts in the Hall of States on the National Stage.

Proficiency Awards
The Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs), have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers.

Massachusetts State Star Recipients
Two Bristol FFA Members were recognized by the State Association as State Star Award recipients. Each year, state associations select one member from the top applicants for the State FFA Degree in each category. The National FFA Foundation provides a $300 cash award.
Lauren Paine of Mattapoisett received the State Star Farmer for outstanding achievement in her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) and active participation in the FFA . Lauren is the owner of Lauren’s Loppery which breeds and raises rabbits.
Ross Sousa of Somerset received the Star in Agricultural Placement Award for his dedication to his Vegetable Production SAE. Ross worked at BA Grows and Souza’s Greenhouses during his time in the FFA. Ross was also involved with many FFA activities, which is a requirement for the award.
