Roberta G. Record
Roberta G. Record, age 71, died unexpectedly at home in Rehoboth on June 20, 2018. She was the loving and dedicated wife to John P. Record of Rehoboth.
Born on September 30, 1946, in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Adeline (Lamb) Gonsalves.
Roberta was very active in many organizations. She was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, the Scouting Program Troop 13 in Rehoboth, and the National Guard Family Readiness Group.
Roberta was a graduate of Rhode Island College with a Bachelor of Science degree, then she went on to study at Columbia University, where she graduated with a Master of Arts degree.
For many years, Roberta worked as a teacher in many local schools. She taught at Bristol-Plymouth Technical High School in Taunton, Bristol Country Agricultural High School in Dighton, the Rehoboth School System and the Colt Elementary School.
Roberta was a vibrant church and community member, as well as an international traveler. She and John traveled extensively throughout the world. Her annual travelogues to distant and exotic places were informative and thoroughly entertaining. Roberta’s empathy, kindness, compassion, and volunteer work touched many lives, including students and strangers she met in life’s journey. Roberta’s entire life reflected her mantra, “Be kind to others and hold loved ones close.”
She is survived by her husband, John Record, son Mark Record, and Mark’s fiancé Stacey Genovesi who loved her dearly. Roberta is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Marie and Luci Record and brothers-in-law Paul and James Record. Additional survivors include many nieces and nephews and extended family members who weep at her loss.
Roberta is predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Adeline (Lamb) Gonsalves.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 5 – 8 p.m. on Monday, Jun 25, 2018, in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro.
A funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 9 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro.
Burial will follow in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Rehoboth.
