On Tuesday, June 4, SUEZ made a $5,000 check presentation to the Friends of Townie Athletics Organization to support students and families of the East Providence Public School system. This donation will be used to support and promote athletic and physical education in East Providence schools and provide financial support that will unite students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff and the community. The donation will enhance school spirit and increase morale across East Providence schools.

“When reviewing the organizations making an impact locally in East Providence, the work that Friends of Townie Athletics is doing stood out to our Charitable Giving Committee,” said Jason O’Brien, General Manager for SUEZ’ New England Region. “The organization aligns with our goal to build sustainable communities. By enriching the school system with programs, students will expand their horizons and participate in experiences that support families and bring the community together.”

The Friends of Townie Athletics Organization has played a significant role in the growth of the East Providence High School (EPHS) Athletics Program. Some of their accomplishments include: $2,000 towards services for a sports trainer for EPHS, establishing two $1,000 college scholarships (one male and one female) for EPHS students/athletes, and a donation of $4,750 towards new equipment for the EPHS weight room.

“This donation not only affects the students, but it benefits the family unit as a whole,” said Mayor Roberto DaSilva. “Friends of Townie Athletics has been an advocate for the students and have provided relief to parents in so many ways. I am happy to see companies like SUEZ become part of our mission as a City to provide a greater means for a brighter future for our youth.”

SUEZ presented the check to the Friends of Townie Athletics Organization at Omni Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island during their annual New England Meeting.

“We are thankful to SUEZ for this generous donation,” said Kevin Monagle, Assistant Treasurer and Board Member for the Friends of Townie Athletics. “This donation will allow us to continue to provide resources for the students in East Providence and continue our mission of improving East Providence Schools.”
