A Poetic Success at the Rehoboth Library

Posted

Poetry Month and Rehoboth Library's 100th Anniversary converged to present a Poetry Reading Contest on April 15th at the Rehoboth Library. An audience of 36 people helped cheer on the 6 contestants while our 3 judges, Patricia Gomes, Philip Hasouris and Nicole Neal, presented the individual scores. Rich Berg, from South Easton, was our Poet-Master MC. He brought his usual enthusiasm and sense of humor to his expertise. The 3 semifinalists faced-off to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Cash prizes were presented by Leslie Patterson of Friends of the Rehoboth Library who sponsored the event. First prize $40 went to Robert Barboza of Rochester, MA; 2nd prize $25 to Kathryn Kulpa of, Somerset, MA; 3rd prize $15 to Mary Gregory of Norton, MA.

Poetry in the Village takes place the 3rd week of every month at the Rehoboth library. Our next poetry event is May 20th - We have our usual open mic, and featured poet, Kathryn Kulpa. June 17 Philip Hasouris featured. Doors open 5:30, event 6-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Contact nlmboucher@comcast.net.
