Negotiations for Successor Contract at a Standstill

After many months of negotiations for a successor contract the DRRSC and the DRRTA are at impasse and have agreed to jointly request the appointment of a state mediator to help resolve several issues. There are a number topics submitted to the mediator including, but not limited to, salary, health insurance premium contribution rates, length of the work year, the number and nature of monthly meetings with staff and administration, and teachers’ preparation time. We expect the mediator’s appointment in the next week or two and we look forward to closing the gap on many of these items. In the meantime, the contract which expired in August will continue to govern staff working conditions and compensation. We will make additional announcements as the situation develops.
