Girl Scouts Bake 151 Loaves of Bread for “Lovin’ Loaves” Event

Posted

Warwick, R.I. (November 23, 2016) – On Saturday November 19th, Attleboro Girl Scouts from various troops gathered together for the first annual "Lovin' Loaves" baking event. Throughout the day Girl Scouts from the Attleboro troops were able to bake 151 loaves of bread to be donated to their local community for Thanksgiving.

The troops were able to complete this astonishing accomplishment through the generous donations received by various retailers and companies. These much appreciated and much needed baking supplies included the donation of 100 lbs of flour from King Arthur Flour in Vermont, additional ingredient donations from Wholefoods in Bellingham, and BJ's Wholesale Club in South Attleboro, and the use of the kitchen and hall at Second Congregational Church on Park St.

“Once again, we see our Girl Scouts and volunteers reaching out to better the world for others, one community at a time, and one project at a time. This is a remarkable achievement and shows us that the tone has been set, Girl Scouts truly are go-getters, innovators, risk-takers and leaders in their communities. This was a story of selflessness during the season of giving that was too perfect not to share. We at Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England are so incredibly proud of these troops and their leaders!” said Rachel Langley, Director of Marketing and Communications.

The donations were distributed through the food pantry at Second Congregational Church and the Attleboro Area Council of Churches.
