Book and a Cookie Night - Thank you to all of the families who came out in the early evening to share a story, craft and a cookie! We were honored to have many local authors here to read their own stories to the children. It is always wonderful for our students and families to connect first hand with literacy greats! It was a joy to have author Ashley Richer reading Tyler’s Tall Tales, Theresa Scimmel reading Sunny and Claremary Sweeney reading A Berkshire Tale. We encourage you to check out these wonderful titles. Thank you to all of the teachers who came out to support this literacy evening. Great fun was had by all!

Mr. Lemoncello’s Library - ( Co-written by Brianna Camara, Tiago Coceicao and Kiera DePalo) - Have you read Escape from Mr.Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Graberstein ? The second grade scholars from room 28 at Palmer River finished this adventure story with an adventure all their own! First their teacher, Mrs. DiPalma, emailed Mr. Graberstein to inform him of a typo her students found while reading his wonderful book. He was impressed with their close attention to detail in finding an error his editors missed! In return- he sent the students a scavenger hunt!

Next, Mrs. DiPalma gave her students sealed envelopes that they could not open until the evening of the “library lock in”. Along with the envelope was a list of informative rules for the students to use.

Now, to fill you in about the library lock in. Parents volunteered to help kids “escape the library” by 7:00. They took turns going to the Book Nook Café. That’s where the kids ate their dinner and had a meeting. Next, they used the computer to locate books to find CLUE CARDS. They used the cards t solve the rebus. When they finished the rebus, they had to show Mrs. DiPalma and they earned 3 prizes: 3 books from the library, 1 homework pass and a gift card for 8 oz. of FroYo. The kids had an awesome time! The best part was they were working as a team to escape the library.

Feinstein on Facebook - We are very excited at the Feinstein Foundation to invite students, parents, and teachers to get involved with the Feinstein Foundation Facebook page. This is an easy way for students to share their good deeds with others around the world and to feel pride by accessing social media to see the positive things they are doing for others. It's also a wonderful chance for students and parents to see what inspirational things other students and Feinstein leadership schools are doing.

Interested? Here's what you do...Have your parent(s), guardian or teacher go to the Feinstein Foundation page on Facebook. Send a private message to the Foundation with your good deeds and the things you are doing in your home, school, and community to help others. You can also write about how it makes you feel to help others and what you are learning from those experiences. Please feel free to share your thoughts about Mr. Feinstein and his leadership programs and schools.

Once a week the Feinstein Foundation will share many of the posts that are submitted. Parents and teachers are encouraged to regularly check the Feinstein Foundation page and read the latest posts by the children of Rhode Island. Parents, students and teachers are encouraged to message the foundation as often as they want, whenever they have something new to share.

The Feinstein Foundation is so proud of all the wonderful things you and your schools are doing. Now they can share these endeavors with everyone through social media. They can't wait to hear from you!

Thank You Troop 3!- We send out accolades to Samuel DuBois and his fellow boy scouts of troop 3. Sam organized a ‘Life Service Project’ to resurface the Palmer River Playground with mulch. With the support of a few dads and custodian Joseph Cordeiro, the boy scouts spread 45 yards of mulch. Safety landings were added under the swing and slide areas to ensure longevity of the safe surface. Timed perfectly, just before the Memorial Day parade, the freshly covered playground got lots of use. Sam, and several other scouts, are now entertaining ideas for their up and coming Eagle Scout projects. There is no stopping these hardworking scouts; this is another example of a wonderful Dighton-Rehoboth partnership in this Troop of scouts! Thank you boys!
