Congratulations to the Beckwith Spelling Team! At the meet in Seekonk on April 16, the team came in first place! Also, special congratulations to Mary Masterson, who was the number one speller at the meet, and to Victoria Gonsalves, who was the number two speller at the meet. Team members who competed on April 16 are Devanshi Bansal, Logan Carruthers, Caroline Enos, Victoria Gonsalves, Christopher Hoskins, Samantha Leandro, Abby Lizotte, Maddy Masterson, Mary Masterson, Holly McEathron, Mason Mello, Aiden Soliday, Connor Platt, Ricky Curtis, and Colby Botelho.

Adventures in Wonderland
Beckwith Middle School’s drama club performed Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in the Beckwith café on May 15 and 16 at 7:00 p.m. We followed that inimitable rabbit to a delightful, entertaining world of childhood fantasies and watched Alice as she journeyed into a realm of talking animals, comic royalty, and races where the contestants ran in circles. Other memorable moments included the Mad Hatter’s frantic tea party, the White Rabbit’s eleventh-hour arrivals, and those talking flowers! Alice's adventures became topsy-turvy as she watched a trial and suddenly found herself the accused! This production put a modern spin on an old classic, where nonsense makes quite good sense. Special thanks to everyone for an unforgettable performance.

SEMSBA Music Festival
Congratulations to Sarah Arnold, Ashley Damon, Emma DePalo, Christopher Hoskins, Meghan Reed, and Brooke Wickliff who auditioned against students from over forty local middle and high schools and were selected to represent Beckwith Middle School in the annual SEMSBA Music Festival. The festival was held on May 1-2 at Hingham Middle School and concluded with a concert for family and friends.

PAC Participation
The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a group of parents of children with special needs and other interested persons. The purpose of the PAC is to build support for special education programs and to advise the school committee on matters that pertain to the education, health, and safety of children with special needs and to address key issues concerning the implementation of laws and regulations. If you are interested in participating in the PAC, please email the Beckwith Middle School Special Education Coordinator, Dawn Pagliarini, NCSP.

Spring Concert
The annual Beckwith Middle School Spring Concert was held on Tuesday, May 19th in the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School auditorium.

The chorus portion of the concert featured a wide variety of repertoire including traditional African freedom songs, ballads, musical selections from movies, and twenty-first century music hits. Popular selections performed that evening included I'll Stand By You, If I Only Had Brain, You've Got a Friend in Me, The Lion King, and Pharell William's Happy.

The theme of the band portion of the evening was "Folk Songs from Around the World", and featured a variety of music, including a beautiful Irish air, an energetic American folk music performed on the banjo, as well as a Dixieland band. The 8th grade band also performed a world premiere of an original composition by one of our 8th grade students!

Projects with more information about some of the pieces performed were on display outside of the auditorium.

Nurse’s Notes
Vision and hearing screenings have been completed at Beckwith. If you received a vision or hearing screening failure letter in the mail for your child, please return it to Mrs. Mondor, RN with the documented doctor's recommendation for follow-up as soon as possible. Postural screenings are almost complete and referral letters will soon be sent in the mail. Thank you for your cooperation.

Springtime
It feels like spring has finally arrived. Baseball and softball seasons are underway, flowers are in bloom, and the weather has finally warmed up some. Keeping the nice, warm weather in mind, please help your child to continue to select clothing each day which is suitable to wear to school. Remind them to dress appropriately for the occasion; school is a learning environment.

CORI/SORI
For those of you who are interested in chaperoning field trips and volunteering to help teachers or help at school events, please remember that you need to have a current CORI/SORI form on file with the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District. Your form needs to be completed in person and you will need to present a valid drivers license. Once you have been approved, your form is valid for all the schools in our district for three years.
