Nurse’s Notes
The end of the school year is quickly coming to a close! Any medications belonging to your child that are presently in the health room need to be picked up by the last day of school or they will be discarded.

Also, in early May letters were sent home to present 6th grade parents/guardians regarding the need for updated physicals and mandatory vaccinations required for entrance into 7th grade. These are Massachusetts Department of Health requirements. If you have received one of these letters, please send the information as soon as possible to Mrs. Mondor, RN school nurse so that your child will not be excluded from school in the fall. Thank you. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Mondor at 508-252-5080. Physicals and updated immunizations can be faxed to 508-252-5082.

CORI/SORI

For those of you who are interested in chaperoning field trips and volunteering to help teachers or help at school events, please remember that you need to have a current CORI/SORI form on file with the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District. Your form needs to be completed in person and you will need to present a valid driver’s license. Once you have been approved, your form is valid for all the schools in our district for three years.

Lady Raiders Softball
Beginning the season with 2 losses, the Lady Raiders were looking at a long season or so it seemed. However, the team knew they were better than their record and fought to pick up 9 wins this season with just 5 losses. The team was led by the exceptional play of their leaders: The 8th Graders. Andria Braga, Gwyn Tatton, Abby Lizotte, Madison Correia and Caitlin McCarthy showed fans that this was their team and they would not be denied a winning season. Great job, girls! The team would also like to thank the staff members who took the time this season to travel to the Martin Street fields to cheer on the team.

Raiders Baseball
In late March, with the fields still covered by snow, thoughts of spring and baseball filled the minds of many Beckwith students and teachers. Tryouts had to begin in the parking lot as 44 students competed for the 15 positions on the team. Once the team was selected we waited and waited as the first two weeks of the season had to be rescheduled until the field conditions improved.

With the season finally underway the team quickly came together as a cohesive unit. Behind solid pitching, hitting and defense they opened with two wins on the road. Once again we were able to play a night game at Sammis Field in Rehoboth against Dighton which the boys won decisively. Next the Raiders completed the sweep of their in-district rival with a 14-3 victory at home. Winning 5 out of 6 games in the middle of the season and closing the year with two team victories, the Raiders went 8-2 against our divisional rivals and ended with an overall record of 10-6. This year’s team was led by returning 8th graders: Joe Carrera, Barry Conway, Reis Foley, Collin Gagnon, Jordan Griffin, Dylan Iodice, Matt Moura and Brian Ripley. Eighth graders Zach Lyne, Matt McNaughton, and Harrison Pray made their debut on the team this year and impressed everyone with their talent. Four 7th graders contributed to the team this year: Tom Gordon, Shane Mello, Shayne O’Neil and Ryan Walsh. A special thank you goes to Ryan LaBerge who served as our team manager this year. Coach Kenny and Coach Patrick thoroughly enjoyed working with this group of students and we wish everyone continued success on and off the field.

Staff Appreciation Week
The Beckwith Middle School staff would like to thank our PTSA, parent volunteers, and community donors for making Staff Appreciation Week very special for us. During the week of June 1, we all enjoyed delicious food as well as many wonderful raffle gifts. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity.
