Frances "Ellie" Lawton

Frances "Ellie" Lawton, 92, a longtime area resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. She was the wife of the late Robert Stanley Lawton.

Ellie was born in Providence, a daughter of the late George F. and Caroline C. (Davis) deSousa.

Ellie was a graduate of the Truesdale Nursing School and was employed as a registered nurse for many years until her retirement.

She was a member of the Institute of Devine Metaphysical Research, the Rehoboth Senior Center and the Rehoboth Veteran's Association. Ellie was also a Truesdale Nurses Alumna and enjoyed crafts, cooking, playing golf and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Machala and her husband Kenneth of Rehoboth; grandchildren, Ellen E. Burns and her husband Lawrence of Alexandria, Va. and Hollis Lee Machala of Rehoboth; a great-grandchild, Nora Catherine Burns; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late James R. de Souza, Ethelyne Maxwell, and M. Louise Carreiro.
