Local Baseball Team, Bristol County Eagles, Wins AAU Fall Championship

Posted

On Sunday November 8th, the Bristol County Eagles 15/16U baseball team finished their season by winning the New England AAU Massachusetts Fall Baseball Championship, beating another local team, the Lakeville Cardinals 7-6.

The BC Eagle team is made up of local youths from Rehoboth, Dighton and Somerset. The team won their final six games, of which three were playoff games. In the first round of the playoffs the Eagles won 2-1 over the Attleboro Bombers on a walk off hit in extra innings. In the second round they defeated the Taunton Samurai 16 U club 7-4. In the championship game the Eagles took an early 7-1 lead heading into the top of the 7th inning only to see a strong Lakeville team battle back in the top of the 7th scoring 5 two-out runs. The Eagles were able to make the last out stranding the tying run on second base to win the championship.

These boys should be commended for their resilience and “team first” attitude. Coach Sean Dunn and Coach Kevin Gousie stated, “the thing that made this team a championship team was the brotherhood the players created. It did not matter the score or situation; they believed in each other, always stayed positive and picked each other up.”

Members of the team are:
Landen Walsh, Liam O’Neill, Aiden Haskell, Evan Dunn, Josh Cote, Alex Cote, Hayden Bessette and Kevin Gousie Jr. (Rehoboth)
Connor Thibert, Micheal Kelleher, Cole Bilodeau, and Logan Bettencourt (Dighton)
Kyle McKinnon (Somerset)

Coaches:
Kevin Gousie, Sean Dunn
