Attleboro – Representative Steven Howitt (R-Seekonk) has committed to participate in the annual Legislative Forum of the Voice of the Poor Committee of the Attleboro Area St. Vincent de Paul Society, which includes the towns of Seekonk and Rehoboth. The forum, which is open to the public, will be held Saturday, March 21, from 11 am to 1 pm at Mary Lyon Hall on the Wheaton College campus in Norton.

Other confirmed attendees for the Forum are State Senator Paul Feeney of Foxboro, Representative James Hawkins of Attleboro, and Representative Elizabeth Poirier of North Attleboro. Senator Rebecca Rausch of Needham, whose district includes North Attleboro and Plainville as well as portions of Attleboro will also have a representative at the meeting.

In past years, discussions have focused on the need for low-income housing; challenges around immigration; the need for criminal justice reform; jobs and economic development and transportation.

Several other social service agencies from the area will join the Forum as collaborators with specific questions on pressing issues. All attendees will be invited to ask questions as well.

No advance registration of attendees is required. Registration begins at 10:30am followed by the two-hour program at the Holman Room of Mary Lyon Hall on East Main Street, Route 123 in Norton.
