Add Your Creativity to a Community Art Project

Posted

Seekonk, MA – 3/10/2021 – Join Seekonk Public Library for the virtual workshop: Community Circle Project for Adults on Wednesday, April 28 at 6:30 PM to enjoy a unique, relaxing program that combines art with community. Local art educator, and founder of the Community Circle Project, Sandy Coleman will lead us in reflective drawing and discussion based on the circle as a symbol of unity, wholeness, and inclusion. Using simple materials and our own inspiration we will create together and talk about our common bonds and desire for good, in our lives, our community and the world. At the end of the program, you will be invited to take a photo of your completed circle to be exhibited on the Community Circle Project website.

This program will be held virtually via Zoom and is open to adults of all drawing skill levels, from novice to expert. Register in the Events Calendar at www.seekonkpl.org  to receive the login information the week of the program. If you’re not familiar with Zoom, contact the library at library@seekonkpl.org  for assistance.

This program is funded through a grant from the Seekonk Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Seekonk Library will supply a circle kit that includes: 3 circle templates, plain white paper (8 x 10), pencil, eraser. You provide black permanent marker (ex: Sharpie), colored markers or pencils, and good will toward others. Materials will be available for pickup for those registered beginning April 14.

Sandy Coleman has taught art classes at the Attleboro Arts Museum for five years. Her acrylic paintings and mixed-media collage works reflect her fascination with torn paper used as 'paint.' Sandy’s creations have been featured on HGTV, in Oprah magazine, and in exhibitions at colleges, museums and galleries in the Boston and Providence area. “Change happens in big and small ways and each of us can play a role in that through the power of art for relaxation, reflection and reflection.”
