Survived by wife Mary Lou Proulx of Seekonk, MA; brothers Roger and Raymond Proulx of Roswell, NM; children (and their spouses) David Proulx and Pamela Flournoy of San Jose, CA, Michael and Cindy Proulx of Cathedral City, CA, Diane Belliveau of Seekonk, MA, and Therese and Michael Lowry of Pawtucket, RI; and grandchildren Frank Proulx and his wife Jaya Roy of Portland, OR, Matthew Lowry and Sean Lowry of Pawtucket, RI, Gabby Belliveau of Westboro, MA, and Emily Belliveau and Lizzy Belliveau of Seekonk, MA.

Leo grew up in Willimantic where he attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and later Windham Technical School. After that he joined the Army and served in Korea from 1953 to 1956.

Upon returning from Korea, he married Mary Lou Bergeron in Willimantic. Shortly after their 4th child was born, he and his young family moved to Bellingham, MA, where they lived for 10 years, before his job took him to Barrington, RI. Due partly to a desire to be closer to their two daughters, Leo and Mary Lou left Barrington after 35 years to settle in Rumford, RI. Just last year, they moved in with their eldest daughter Diane in Seekonk.

Leo was a craftsman, a handyman, and a tireless tinkerer and problem solver, who never met a tool he couldn't use. He was always happy in his woodshop, where he turned out clocks, desks, and other furniture, and where he shared his love of craftsmanship and creativity with his children.

He also loved motorcycles, riding with his father as a teenager, then giving it up while raising his family. The bug bit again in midlife, though, this time for good. He finally sold his beloved Yamaha at the age of 82.

But above all else, Leo was a devoted family man in the truest sense of the term, helping with raising his children, sometimes working 2 jobs to ensure they had everything they needed, and always holding the welfare and happiness of his wife and children as his top priority. He will be missed but never forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday evening Sep 10 at 6pm at New Covenant Christian Fellowship, 609 N. Main St, Attleboro.
