Tails & Tales Summer Reading Challenge Wrap-Up
Congratulations to all of the children who participated in Seekonk Library’s Tails & Tales Summer Reading Challenge. By reading 15-20 minutes per day, the children collectively read more than 219,000 minutes during the two-month program. Well done! Combined with the minutes read by teens and adults, the grand total of minutes was over 305,000! Since the community goal of reading for 250,000 minutes was met, a goat will be purchased through Heifer International and given to support a family or village in another country. More details about that soon! Congratulations again to everyone who participated this summer!
Tails & Tales is sponsored by Seekonk Public Library, CSLP, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Sensory Water Play for Kids

Children ages 0-5 will explore 7 different water stations for hands-on play and learning. The stations will include water tables, a small pool, and a bin with water beads and another with water balloons. The program will be self-directed with children spending as much time as they wish at the individual stations. A change of clothing is suggested. This event will be held outdoors behind the library building. In case of inclement weather, the program will be rescheduled. Led by Kirby Furtado, owner of Tot Spot RI in Riverside, RI.

Celebrate Seekonk Day Children’s Events
Saturday, September 18, 11AM - 4PM
As part of Seekonk Cultural Council’s “Celebrate Seekonk Day”, there will be a shadow puppetry activity and a Kindness Rocks station at the library. For shadow puppetry, children will make a simple shadow puppet and then explore making shadows at a tabletop stage. For Kindness Rocks, families will paint caring messages of kindness on rocks that will then be added to the community Kindness Rocks garden at Seekonk Library. Drop-in, no registration needed. These events celebrate the arts, culture and community in Seekonk. For a full listing of the day’s events, visit the Seekonk Cultural Council’s Facebook page.
