Seekonk Schools to Hold Covid Vaccine Clinics

Posted

The Seekonk Public Schools will once again be partnering with Brewster Ambulance to provide a free COVID-19 vaccination clinic. This next clinic will be solely for students ages 5 to 11. The vaccination clinic will be held at the Hurley Middle School gymnasium and will take place on Thursday, December 2nd with the second dosage being administered on Thursday, December 23rd.

Superintendent Rich Drolet noted the schools held a vaccination clinic last September for students 12 years and up.

Drolet told the school committee Monday that the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Department of Public Health had sent a letter to school and district leaders to encourage them to actively promote COVID-19 vaccinations for children ages 5-11 when such vaccinations become available.

Drolet said about 50 to 55 percent of high school students (as well as eligible middle school students aged 12+) are fully vaccinated in Seekonk. “When you add in staff to that 50 to 55 percent of fully vaccinated students (a higher percentage of staff are fully vaccinated), that gets us to about 60 percent of individuals fully vaccinated in the high school building,” Drolet added.

Students participating in the vaccination clinic must have a parent or legal guardian with them at the clinic, and the parent or legal guardian must sign the two attached consent forms from Brewster Ambulance and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Students participating in the vaccination clinic must bring both consent forms to the clinic on December 2.
