Stop & Shop Fighting Hunger in Seekonk

Posted

The Newman Avenue Stop & Shop in north Seekonk has been a strong supporter of the Doorways Food Pantry for many years, and this February they solicited help from their customers to strike a blow against food insecurity. The store placed non-perishable food items at all checkout registers with signs inviting customers to make a purchase to benefit the local food pantry. In a few short weeks, Stop & Shop customers donated over 1,000 cans of fruits and vegetables, almost 500 boxes of mac’n’cheese, and hundreds of other assorted food products. These donations will help fill cupboards throughout Seekonk during the long winter months. Over seventy families rely on Doorways on a regular basis, and Doorways relies on people like Stop & shop and their customers. We thank you all!
