Martin W. Carr, 87, of Seekonk, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Elena (Castiglia) Carr of Seekonk.

Born on Dec. 29, 1929 in Attleboro, he was a son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Laffan) Carr.

Martin grew up in Attleboro and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

He was employed as an engineer assistant for Texas Instruments for over 19 years. He then worked for the Polymetalurgical Corporation until his retirement in 1991.

Martin was an avid saltwater fisherman and he enjoyed cross country skiing, yardwork, road trips around the U.S. and working on cars.

In addition to his wife, Martin is survived by his children: Joseph Carr and his wife Ava of Seekonk, Patricia Silva and her husband Joseph of Seekonk, and Michael Carr of Attleboro; three grandchildren: Joseph Silva, Dacia Silva, and Michael Carr; a great-granddaughter, Teagan Rose Mulhern and his two sisters, Ellen Mansfield of North Carolina and Susan Kavanagh of Falmouth; also many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, May 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 9 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk.

Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
