Seekonk School Music Programs

Music programs in Seekonk Public Schools will continue in the next school year, says Superintendent Rebecca Kidwell.

“We do not anticipate any reduction in music services for the coming year, as we are highly supportive the music program across all four schools. The achievement, talent, and growth students show over their years in the program is a highlight of our district,” Kidwell said Thursday.

Staff members at Aitken Elementary School had sent letters of concern to the school committee after the proposed elimination of a part-time music teacher.

“I do have my concerns with programs being reduced in the district,” said committee chairman Robert Gerardi on Monday.

“My kids thoroughly enjoyed band. They all participated in it. I don’t like seeing us losing programs that I know are valuable.”
