Alzheimer’s Association® Hosts Pure Imagination Auction

Providence, RI, March, 2018 – The Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter invites the community to attend a Pure Imagination Auction in honor of the 23,000 Rhode Islanders who are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease and their 53,000 caregivers. We are excited to announce, this year’s Willy Wonka theme to commemorate actor, Gene Wilder who passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s disease in 2016. This annual event will be celebrating its 15th year on Saturday April 7, from 7:00 to 10:30pm at a new venue; Skyline at Waterplace in Providence.

Our committee, led by its Chair, Mariana Sequeria, is diligently working on this premier benefit. The event is a lively evening of dinner and dancing. Guests will mix and mingle while overlooking the Providence skyline and enjoying a gourmet sit-down dinner catered by Russell Morin. The evening will also include musical entertainment by The Drama Kings, a program with master of ceremony Mike Montecalvo WPRI 12 and Fox Providence news anchor, a dessert bar, an enticing auction and complimentary valet. The event is semi-formal and guests are encouraged to wear the Alzheimer’s signature color purple. Guests will have an opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win the “Golden Ticket.” Leading up to the event, there will be an online auction open to the general public for a trip to an exotic location!

Since its inception in 2003, the annual auction has raised close to a half- million dollars to support the Association’s programs, services, advocacy efforts and research. The annual auction is a powerful evening that brings us together, shapes our memories, and empowers our communities as we imagine a world without Alzheimer’s. “As we know, Alzheimer’s steals your imagination piece by piece. This event allows the community to come together and imagine how we can end it. Spend the evening with us, and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination,” says Donna McGowan, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association.
