Eduardo G. Avila, 85, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the loving husband of Helena (Souto) Avila to whom he was happily married for 57 years. Born in Praia do Norte, Faial, Azores he was a son of the late Jose G. and Emilia G. (Medeiros) Avila. Mr. Avila was a machine operator for Hasbro for 34 years before he retired. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church. Besides his wife he leaves one son, Edward G. Avila, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Swansea, two grandchildren, Benjamin E. Avila and Bethany G. Avila, two sisters, Maria Medeiros of Canada and Cecelia Ramos of California and three brothers, Jose Avila of California, Luis Avila of Hawaii and Antonio Avila of California and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eduino Avila and Telmo Avila. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8.
