Eloise A. (Jackvony) Kent 92, of East Providence died Thursday, February 15th,surrounded by love, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Chester F. Kent.

Born in Providence, the daughter of late Dr. Albert H. Jackvony and Anna M. (Sheehan) Jackvony. She had been a resident of East Providence for the past sixty-¬five years.
Mrs. Kent was a devout Catholic, who prayed the rosary everyday of her life. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church, school, tabernacle society, and the “Tongue-Waggers.”. In her younger years, she was an avid reader, talented ice skater, artist and swimmer. Her love and caring for her family and friends was her focus in life. She was a loving Mother and “Gran” to everyone who ever met her.

She loved taking unplanned rides up north with her (late) husband, Chet, finding little road side cabins in the White Mountains, and salt water taffy along the shoreline shops. Together they spent many days sailing the Narragansett Bay, with Uncle Joe on his boat, the Owego, and celebrated New Years Eve and St. Patrick’s day together with her siblings at the Elk’s Club.

Eloise enjoyed spending summers and Sundays with her family at her father’s camp on Stafford Pond in Tiverton, preparing meals for all who gathered around the dinner table, listening to the song birds, mushroom hunting, and watching radiant sunsets on the dock. She loved dogs, babies, butter flies, plants, and all that nature had to offer her.

She was an eager traveler, taking annual Spring trips to Fripp Island with her extended family, always up for any adventure such as ghost crabbing, petting the deer, or midnight golf cart rides. She spent her summer vacations with her sister Joan and her family, walking the beaches in Point Lookout and the Sun and Surf Beach Club in search of sand dollars and jellyfish, and frequented Arizona to visit with her brother Bobby. Eloise was a pillar of strength, a calming presence, the giver of “magic kisses” and a shelter in any storm. She graced this world with kindness, sincerity, friendship and love, welcoming everyone with open arms and an open heart.

She leaves a son, Michael G. Kent of Rumford, three daughters, Nancy E. Kelly of Swansea, Paula J. Moore of Northport, FL and Susan E. Kent of Tiverton; a sister, C. Dorothy Healy; nine grandchildren and ¬five great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Deborah M. Bowater and the sister of the late Joan E. Todaro, Caroline C. Pasternack, Albert H., Edward A. and Robert Q. Jackvony.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Place, Edgewood at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 21st. Calling hours respectfully omitted. Burial will be at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetary, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Ronald McDonald House, 45 Gay Street, Providence, RI 02905.
