Evelyn V. Almonte, 80 of Riverside passed away Tuesday May 17, 2022, with her family by her side. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Alberico Mansolillo and Virginia (Anzevino). She was the beloved wife of Victor Almonte for almost 46 years. Evelyn was a graduate of Cranston High School East. She then went on to graduate from Bryant College. She was proud member of the National and Rhode Island Honor Societies and graduated among the top students in her class. After 16 years as an executive administrative assistant for Hospital Trust Bank, Evelyn made a career change to become a full-time homemaker, wife, and mother. It was in this role that she felt her purpose in life was fulfilled, and she excelled at it. Over the years she would care for several family members in their times of difficulty, illness, or end-of-life. She was unselfish and always willing to help her family and friends, even if it meant putting herself last. Among her great qualities was a sharp mind and an exceptional ability to remember people, places, or events—old and new—with such detail that it often amazed those who knew her. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Brendan’s Church, in Riverside. Besides her devoted and adoring husband, Victor, she is survived by her son, Kenneth Almonte and his wife, Jennifer Walhood. She was the sister-in-law of Celia Almonte, and Dennis Almonte and his wife, Geralyn. She was predeceased by a brother, John J. Mansolillo. Her funeral will be held Monday May 23rd at 10:00 AM from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue Cranston. Followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Brendan’s Church, 60 Turner Ave., Riverside, RI 02915. Burial to follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held from 9:00 -10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Cancer Research Institute, 29 Broadway, Floor 4, New York, NY, 1006-3111 or the American Cancer Society, PO BOX 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
