José A. Gouveia

José A. Gouveia, 75, of East Providence, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucy S. (DaSilva) Gouveia.

Born in Praia do Almoxarife, Faial, Azores, he was a son of the late José and Maria (Helena) Gouveia. Mr. Gouveia was a truck driver and worked for C&E Transportation until he retired. He was a member of the Brightridge Club in East Providence. Mr. Gouveia was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, fishing, quahogging, kayaking, and just being out and soaking up the sun. Most of all he loved to cook for his family and spend time with his grandchildren.

He leaves four children, Ricardo S. Gouveia and his wife Anna of Rehoboth, Lisa A. Camara, and her husband Liberto of Fall River, John P. Gouveia and his partner Pong Sot of Tacoma, Washington, Michelle M. Chamberlin and her husband Ryan of Richmond, RI, ten grandchildren, Nikole, Victoria, Dalton, Casey Ann, Christopher, Sean, Riley, Rohan, Nicole and Emily, three great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Reese, and Austin, five sisters, Maria Manuela Rosa, Maria Fatima Dourado, Alda Gouveia Mann, Bertina Gouveia, and Joyce Amaral all of Providence, two brothers, George Gouveia of Providence and John Perry of East Providence. He was the brother of the late, Manuel Gouveia and Teresa Gouveia- Santos.

His funeral will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence.
