Jose S. Cordeiro, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Miriam Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria Adelina (Faria) Cordeiro. Born in Feteiras, Sao Miguel, Azores he was a son of the late Joao and Marianna (Soares) Cordeiro. Mr. Cordeiro was a cabinet maker for the William Bloom & Son Company before he retired. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and the Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Charity. While he was living in Ponta Delgado, Mr. Cordeiro worked for the Government in Customs. He also served in the Portuguese Army. Besides his wife he leaves two children, Fernando M. Cordeiro and his wife Maria of Johnston and Helen M. Clancy of East Providence, four grandchildren, Stephanie, Meghan, Ryan and Jenna and six great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Manuel Cordeiro, Maria daLuz, Irene Valcorba and Maria Conceicão Tavares. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 4-8.
