Rhode Island --- Junior Achievement of Rhode Island (JA), which provides programs on work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, announced it has received a $14,880 grant from the Travelers Foundation, the charitable arm of Travelers. The grant will support JA’s middle and high school education programs.

JA’s middle school programs build on concepts the students learned in JA's elementary school programs and helps teens make difficult decisions about how to best prepare for their educational and professional future. The programs supplement standard social studies curricula and develop communication skills that are essential to success in the business world.

JA’s high school programs help students make informed, intelligent decisions about their future, and foster skills that will be highly useful in the business world. As high school students begin to position themselves for their future, these programs help with the many unanswered questions about what lies ahead.

"Knowledge of the free enterprise system, its benefits to citizens and its relationship to job creation is important for our young people," said Lee Lewis, president of Junior Achievement of Rhode Island. "With the help of partners like Travelers, we can expand our reach with our life-changing programs."

"Travelers understands that today's students are tomorrow's workforce,” said Rita Ortiz, Director of Employee Engagement. “We are committed to ensuring that all young people are given the tools and opportunities they need to succeed in school and life, and we have been very impressed with the work JA has done to prepare students for success after graduation.”
