Mayor DaSilva to sign city’s first executive order; invites public to join Veterans Council

Mayor Bob DaSilva will sign the first ever executive order in the city’s history. The executive order will establish the Mayor’s Council on Veterans Affairs.

WHO:

•East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva

•East Providence City Council Members

•Representatives of Veterans Inc., American Legion, and the City of East Providence Veterans Advisory Committee

•Members of the public

WHAT: Mayor DaSilva is seeking to create an 11-member advisory board - a majority of whom shall be veterans - who are dedicated to veterans’ affairs and the betterment of veterans’ lives. The mayor is asking members of the community to attend a public meeting to learn more about and join the Veterans Council.

WHEN: Monday, Nov. 18, 2019 5:00 PM

WHERE: East Providence City Hall Room 306 (Third Floor)

WHY: Mayor DaSilva saw a great need to bring together individuals dedicated to veterans who will advise the mayor on various issues pertaining to veterans and propose new ideas for East Providence veterans.

Also, the City Council will honor local Veterans in-person at their November 19th meeting. A brief ceremony will be held at 7 PM sharp. Residents are urged to attend to help honor the Veterans who may be in attendance. A silent photo montage will play continuously during the council meeting.

Ninety-two year old George Donovan, a retired EPHS teacher and WW II Veteran will be a featured guest of the city council.
