Breakfast With Santa
On Sat. Dec. 16, Santa is taking time from his busy schedule to join us at the Blanding Library for breakfast, at 9:30 and at 10:30. Come and share your wish list, take photos, enjoy a bite to eat and hot chocolate. For children up to age 12. Space is limited and registration is required. Call 508-252-4236.

Gingerbread Houses
Call the library to register for the popular Make Your Own Gingerbread House, for children in grades K through 6. Spaces are filling up fast. Two sessions offered: Tues. Dec. 12 and Wed. Dec. 13, both from 3:30 to 5.

Younger children may work on their gingerbread house with an older sibling. The library provides the house, icing and some “goodies” for decorating or you may bring your own but NO PEANUTS PLEASE. These programs are made possible by the Friends of the Blanding Library.

Kids Book Club & Story Times
Did you know there’s a book club just for kids at the Blanding? This book club for kids from kindergarten through grade 4 meets on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30. This program offers an entertaining spin on reading, including crafts, snacks and games, and is led by students from D-R High School.

For younger children, library story hours continue on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11, with Baby and Toddler story times for children up to age 4. On Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 there are Story and Craft Times for children ages 3 and up. Siblings are welcome at both of these ongoing programs and no registration is necessary.

Other Events at the Blanding

Elvis, our Elf on the Shelf, is back for his December visit to the Blanding. The library will again be featuring a holiday tree in the lobby. On this “ToileTree" you’ll find suggestions of toiletries (soap, toothpaste, etc.) to bring to the library to donate to the Rehoboth Food Pantry.

Take a walk around the library’s front garden to read our story walk, the children’s picture book “Bear Says Thanks” by Karma Wilson. This will be on display through Dec. 30.

The Blanding Book Club will start the new year on Wed. Jan. 3 at 7pm, with a discussion of “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. Copies are available at the library.

The history discussion group continues to meet on Wednesday mornings at 11. The current focus is on major events in Europe and the US during the final decades of the 19th Century. This group is open to all with an interest in history. Contact hjcoleman@comcast.net for more information.

The Blanding Public Library, 124 Bay State Rd. Rehoboth is open Monday through Thursday from 10 to 8, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 to 4. Closed Sundays and holidays, including Dec. 25 for Christmas and Jan. 1 for New Year’s. Visit www.blandinglibrary.net or call 508-252-4236. Happy Holidays!
