Salvatore Ferrara, 84, (Ret. Lt. EPFD) of Breeze Way, Riverside, died peacefully on November 18, 2022 at the Hope Health Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (Ryan) Ferrara.

Born in Bristol, a son of the late Matthew and Lena (Rapoza) Ferrara, he lived in Riverside for 64 years.

Mr. Ferrara was a member of the East Providence Fire Department for 28 years before retiring as a Lieutenant in 1995.

Salvatore was a member of the East Providence Firefighters Beneficial Association and the Firefighters Retiree’s Association.

He enjoyed working on his antique truck, making model ships, golfing, playing the French horn in marching bands and spending time with his loving grandchildren.

Mr. Ferrara served in the Rhode Island National Guard for 8 years.

Besides his wife of sixty four years, he is survived by a daughter, Joanne O’Brien and her husband John of Rumford, two sons, William S. Ferrara and his wife Anna of East Providence and Steven M. Ferrara and his wife Paula of Rehoboth, MA; two sisters, Ellen Fennelly of Bristol and Julia Izbicki of Bristol and seven grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Matthew, Robert and Frank Ferrara.

A private funeral service will be held in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
