TD Charitable Foundation Supports Junior Achievement of Rhode Island with $2,500 Grant For Elementary School Programs

Rhode Island – Junior Achievement of Rhode Island, which provides programs on workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, announced it has received a $2,500 grant from TD Bank, through the TD Charitable Foundation as part of the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community. The grant will support the JA in a Day corporate program at the Carl Lauro Elementary School in Providence.

The JA in a Day corporate program takes Junior Achievement’s programs, which are normally delivered in one-hour segments over a 5-7 week period, and delivers them all in one day. The program at Carl Lauro is Junior Achievement’s largest JA in a Day program and reaches more than 880 students in 37 classrooms.

"This grant will help JA continue providing youth in Rhode Island with the financial literacy skills they need to survive, thrive and contribute to our state's economy."

JA’s elementary school programs include six sequential themes for kindergarten through fifth-grade students. Students learn the basic concepts of business and economics and how education is relevant to the workplace. These activities build on studies from each preceding grade and prepare students for secondary school and lifelong learning.
