Bruce W Humphreys, 91, a lifetime resident of Riverside, RI passed away April 27, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ann E. (Little) Humphreys. Together they were blessed with 4 children Scott A Humphreys and his wife Patricia - WA, Lynne S. Humphreys-Petrone - MA , the late Donald Humphreys and the late Diane C Humphreys, as well as 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Bruce was preceded in death by his brother E. Norman Humphreys. He is survived by his sister, Hope S. Steadman.

Bruce was born Oct 2, 1929 in a birthing home on Earl Ave Riverside, RI to Raymond and Irene (Smith) Humphreys.

Bruce graduated from East Providence High School class of 1947.

He was part of the leadership of the Boy Scouts for many years.

As being a congregant of St Marks Episcopal Church in Riverside, RI for 50 years, he was very involved for most of those years in the operation, the maintenance and many comittees, before they joined Saints Matthew & Mark Episcopal Church in Barrington, RI.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marines and afterwards was a member of the National Guard for many years.

Bruce retired from Cumberland Engineering- So Attleboro, MA

From there he was a great help with the start-up and operation of a family business, Inc. - he was a jack of all trades - impeccable handyman and could fix anything, as we all joked. In fact one grandchild made a comment about an egg dropped on the floor- he said, "Let's take it to Papa, he can fix anything."

He loved to joke with the grandchildren and great grandchildren and had silly stories to share, as well as many old-time sayings, two being: "Stay out of the hot sun " and " Keep your eyes and ears open" .

He was a hard worker, humble, kind, honest; a truly good man. He would help anyone at anytime. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

There will be a church service to celebrate Bruce's life at Saints Matthew and Mark Church 5 Chapel Road Barrington, RI on Tuesday May 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M..

In honor of Bruce, we ask in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the East Providence Scholarship Foundation:
