Shirley E (Goff) Grant 93, of East Providence, RI died November 14, 2022. She was the wife of the late Russell J. Grant Jr. Born in Providence, RI on June 15, 1929 Shirley was the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Armstrong) Goff of Barrington, RI.

Shirley was a resident of East Providence, RI for her entire life living in Riverside for 45 years. She worked at the Providence Journal for a short time before becoming a stay at home mom raising four boys with her husband Russell.

Shirley graduated from East Providence High School in 1946 earning her place on the RI Honor Society as well as earning the Good Citizenship award representing the City of East Providence in the same year. She graduated from RI College in 1950 earning a BA Degree.

Shirley was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron of Unity Chapter in 1983 – 1984. After leaving that office, she continued on to be Secretary of that Chapter for over 20 years earning the title of Secretary Emeritus.

Shirley leaves behind 4 sons, Steven A. Grant of Pawtucket RI, Douglas J. Grant and wife Cathy of Riverside RI, William R. Grant and wife Barbara of Marshfield MA, and Richard W. Grant and partner Marsha Turner of Tiverton RI. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren all of whom made up her cherished family.

Calling hours will be in the Smith - Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave, Riverside, RI, 02915 on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with an Eastern Star Memorial Service being conducted at 6:30pm. Interment with a graveside service will be held at the Little Neck Cemetery, Riverside, RI on November 23, 2022 at 10:00am followed by a collation for friends and family at Chelo’s Restaurant, 911 Warren Avenue, East Providence, RI at 11:30am.
