Townie Volleyball ends Season with 15-5 record. Track competing, Golf team scores well
Semifinal loss for EP Volleyball ends great season
EP Boys Volleyball:
The 15-5 East Providence High boys’ volleyball team lost to Barrington in the Division 2 Semifinal match on Wednesday night. The match went five sets before the Townies lost a close one, 3 sets to 2. Game scores were 17-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 14-16.
The team was paced by Loden Broe who had 35 Assists and Jordan Rodriguez with 15 kills and 13 digs. “I cannot say enough good things about this team. We battled tonight (Wednesday) to force a 5th set after being down 2-0. The team showed grit and determination up to the final point,” said Townie Head Coach Dan Cabral.
The two teams were very evenly matched in talent and East Providence defeated Barrington earlier in the season in a 3-2 match On May 6th.
EPHS Track & Field Competing:
Members of the Townie Girls and Boys Outdoor Track and Field teams will compete in the New England Track and Field Championships on Saturday, June 8th at the University of New Hampshire. Competing for EP will be Jaidin Ivy, Justin Jardine, Mac Prevete and Julius Cortes on the boys side. For the Girls , Nazarae Phillip, Kandace and Kendra Daniel, Aliyah Evora, Leyla Bates and Abby Raphael will represent the Townies.
Townie Golf did well:
This past week the Townie golf team finished second in the inaugural coach’s association divisional tournament in Westerly. The team had its best scoring season in school history.
