Dighton-Rehoboth Grads Urged to Write Their Own Stories

The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School’s Class of 2021 were encouraged to take the lessons they have learned and to follow their own path forward in life.

The graduates, their families and friends, and representatives of the school administration gathered Saturday afternoon at the Robert T. Roy Stadium for the school’s 61st graduation ceremony.

Valedictorian Bella DeCilio acknowledged the many challenges the class had endured, including the coronavirus pandemic. “We, as a class, have found ways to use what we had and did what we could to make things better,” DeCilio said. “Now we will be starting where we are using what we have and do what we can to make the best of what is yet to come.”

“Everyone who sits here with a smile on their face has pushed on through difficult times,” said Salutatorian Christopher Pike. “We’ve grown together, we’ve held each other up, and we’ve gotten through trying times as one.”

“You will graduate today with the knowledge that you will continue to grow, to achieve, and to write your own story,” said D-R School Superintendent Anthony Azar.

Principal John Gould told the graduates to “identify your ideals and let those ideals determine your path.”

Diplomas were presented to the graduates by Azar, Gould, assistant principals Katelyn Lima and Gail DeCecco and class advisor Ashley Mathias.
